Efficient Training

There are a lot of things you can do to make your training more effective. Here I’ll share a few tips to cram more learning into your warm up session.
As beginners of Jiu-Jitsu, most of us have weak ankle muscles and can’t hold guard or use hooks very well. One of the things I like to teach in the Sunday classes is to always hook your ankles when doing eskrimas. Most people like to do it lazy footed, but if you constantly practice pointing your toes to your knees every time, you’ll have the hooks of a faixa preta in no time! If you want to get real savvy, do this kind of eskrima while doing your neck raises!
Another one would be practicing your cross choke technique while doing body drags. Every time you slap your hands down, drag yourself by curling your wrist and forearms in, instead of just using your forearms.
One I see people use a lot is on the hip up exercise. Instead of just shooting your hips straight up, you can practice twisting your hips up at an angle (armbar practice) or practice shooting triangles.
If you have girly fingers like Phil, you can do Jiu-Jitsu pushups on your fingers to strengthen them, instead of on your palms. HAHAH I’m just playing Phil J. Even when doing things like listening to technique you can do small things like stretching. Efficiency is key! If you have any ones you like to use, drop them in the comments section for people to check out.
Mundials are in 2 weeks! Here’s a cool little article on the history of Mundials! You can test your knowledge of BJJ by taking their quiz. I got a bootsy 40% (purple belt). If you take it post your score. I got my money on Dan the Man!
